Metals 1:

Yearlong
Safe operation of basic metalworking machines including engine lathes, vertical mills, precision surface grinders, and band saws is stressed. Students will also learn basic setup and operation of 5 Haas CNC lathes and mills. Students learn to read precision measuring tools and basic mechanical prints to produce metalwork projects. Students have the opportunity to apply these skills to attain industry recognized NIMS credentials. This class is taught at East Campus, but is offered to students from West Campus.



Metals 2:

Yearlong
Students prepare for entry level jobs in manufacturing. This class features instruction in advanced and complex manual machine set-ups. Basic programming is used to produce CNC parts. Students will also use advanced inspection equipment to check tolerances of final products. Students have the opportunity to apply these skills to attain industry recognized NIMS credentials.
