Coop / Internships

Learn more about the Metals Program and the Precision Metalworking industry by participating in the Cooperative Education Program (Coop) or a Summer Internship.

The Coop Program is a 2-credit course that you can enroll in during your Senior year.  Coop students attend high school in the morning and then work on a job site in the afternoon—this gives you an opportunity to gain work experience before you graduate from high school.  Check out the Student Profiles link; you probably know some of the students who have participated in Coop.   Talk to your counselor and check out the course details in the Leyden course planning book.

Summer Internships are non-credit, paid experiences that you can interview for the summer prior to your Junior or Senior year.  As a summer intern, you work on a job site and learn real life skills in the precision metalworking industry.  Summer interns do not need to be enrolled in any specific Leyden courses; they just need to be motivated individuals who want to investigate careers in manufacturing.  If you need more information about this opportunity, make an appointment with your counselor or an Industrial Technology teacher.
